The role of endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) in planning radiotherapy target volumes for oesophageal cancer.Thomas E, Crellin A, Harris K, Swift S, Montefiore DS Leeds Cancer Centre, Yorkshire Centre for Clinical Oncology, Cookridge Hospital, Hospital Lane, Leeds LS16 6QB, UK. Computed tomography (CT) scanning is the main imaging modality utilised for planning radical oesophageal radiotherapy. Endoscopic ultrasound allows accurate localisation and local staging of oesophageal tumours. A method of incorporating this information into the CT planning process is described. Gross tumour volume position changes that occur when using this technique are presented. Published 15 November 2004 in Radiother Oncol, 73(2): 149-51.
